What’s it all about?
An explanation of the Castle events
@ the Castle is an initiative to expose young adults in Ireland to good Bible teaching. The Bible talks. Or in other words, God talks through the Bible. This is the driving ethos behind all the castle events.
Half-yearly Weekend Retreats
When God’s word is opened, read, and faithfully explained, God speaks. Centred around Bible talks that are faithful to the text, relevant and engaging, the Castle weekends seek to encourage young adults in their Christian faith, and help them live for Jesus, wherever they serve God. It’s called ‘@ the Castle’ because…guess what…? Funny enough…it’s at a Castle!
Other important ingredients in the weekends include: God-centered praise; prayer and fellowship groups where folk are encouraged to discuss passages from the book being studied; and a substantial bookstall promoted by punchy, humorous (at least we think so) and challenging book reviews.
A weekend suitable for 20s + 30s, and if you’re older than this and would still like to come, why not dye your hair and come any way! We’ll not tell…
Hearing God’s Voice, Speaking God’s Words
These one day events are held twice yearly on a Saturday approximately half way between the weekends and last from morning to late afternoon.
The primary aim of the day is to learn how to understand, teach and apply the various types of literature found in God’s Word. The day will be valuable to anyone involved in Bible teaching whether that be preaching, small group contexts or youth and children’s work. There is also an optional practical element where you can receive constructive criticism from an experienced Bible teacher, on a short talk/outline that you deliver.
Pastors’ Conference
The latest @ the castle initiative is a pastors’ conference that follows on from the weekends. This provides pastors and bible teachers with evangelical convictions from all Christian denominations, the opportunity to get together and focus on refreshing the fundamental principles of exposition.
The speaker from the weekend stays in Ireland an extra day and leads the morning conference in a subject area where he has notable experience.
